The Public Interest Disclosure Act 2018

The Public Interest Disclosure Act 2018 (PID Act) is operative from 1 July 2019. It replaces the Whistleblowers Protection Act 1993 (WP Act). The PID Act provides for the making of appropirate disclosures of public interest information and differs in various important respects from the WP Act including that it establishes roles for the Office for Public Integrity and Independent Commissioner Against Corruption in the administration of the Act and imposes a variety of responsibilities on persons who are principal officers and responsible officers in public sector agencies.
